  • Description: This paper presents a pre-drawing and air-bulging technology for complex plastic products, such as covers of notebook computers, vehicles internal panels, instrument panels, and panels of large-scale household electrical appliances, to solve the problems of badly-distributed wall thickness, warpage, rupture of films and distortion of patterns during the in-mould-decoration thermoforming process. The conception of this technology involves: adopting the G’Sell’s constitutive model to describe the viscoelastic response of in-mould-decoration films, determining the k, m, w material parameters by uniaxial tensile tests, thus determining the optimal thermoforming temperature and acquiring better distributed thickness of IMD products.
