Description:
The paper examined the relationship between profitability and financial leverage in selected sugar companies in 2010–2018. The results using the GMM method show that there is no clear relationship between the variables. The findings could reflect many specific factors characteristic for the individual countries and companies, such as ownership structure, differences in the impact of EU sugar reform, diversification of the companies’ business activities etc., which do not allow drawing a clear and general conclusion.
