  • Description: ANOTHER of the country's key industries trends, a la cotton textiles, southward. This is paper manufacturing, which is developing in the South at a ratio beyond that for the country as a whole. Many observers predict that the day is coming when paper making, following the receding forests, will center in the southern states, largely because of reasons which explain the drift of cotton-textile manufacturing to that section. The third most important branch of pulp making is now preponderantly southern.
