  • Description: Clear film wrap for cut-size reams is a growing market. The trend is being driven by the shift from industrial users to individual consumers, believes the global marketing manager -- packaging, Innovia Films, Fred Garment. At its main site in Wigton, Cumbria, close to the UK'S Lake District, Innovia Films produces film for ream-wrap made of either biaxally-oriented polypropylene or derived from wood pulp. The cellulose works at Wigton has been producing 'transparent paper' since the 1930s. Today it produces some 15,000 tonnes/yr of cellulose film. The process of converting wood pulp to film is, however, quite complex. One such niche is the cut-size paper market. In 2004, Innovia Films began producing a new film for reamwrap, dubbed NatureFlex. The latest version of this film -- NatureFlex 42NE-RW -- has just been launched to market.
