Description: Partners at the venture capital firm, which invests in early-stage tech companies, had met them each independently and decided to play matchmaker. The focus on in-demand skills drew Automation Alley to lease space in Grand Circus because the nonprofit runs its own tech-training program. With a $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, Automation Alley last year began offering training to the employees - and potential new hires - of its nearly 1,000 member companies.
