  • Description: Pensioners' basic security is a classic social policy issue. It has been particularly relevant in recent years and has led to political decisions that have in various ways increased the pensions of those with low pensions. Pensioners' incomes have recently been studied by, for example, Hagen et al (2022), the Fiscal Policy Council (2022), and the Pensions Authority (2022a). In December 2022, the Swedish Pensions Agency (2022b) also came up with a report that called for an investigation into the basic security of the Swedish pension system. The motive is that the various political initiatives in recent years – which refer to the four benefits guarantee pension, housing supplement, elderly support, and income pension supplement – have made the system administratively complicated and difficult to manage for the pensioners concerned.
