  • Description: Asante Quintana, credits an unexpected skill for his public speaking prowess: rapping. Both rapping and public speaking form a relationship between performer and audience, Quintana explained, requiring the performer to tap into their understanding of the world and communicate it in a way that makes sense to others. Quintana, a pre-med senior in Human Biology, Health and Society, has been rapping since middle school, and says that even his work in the recording studio -- learning to make and produce music -- has aided him in the process of research, discovery and dissemination he's learned at Cornell.
