  • Description: Whenever people come together, they inevitably form impressions about each other. In this article, various sources of information upon which people base their impressions, as well as temporal and situational aspects contributing to the integration of these sources into an overall judgment are discussed. Moreover, characteristics of the person forming an impression that may influence and even bias the outcome of the process are described. Finally, recent evidence regarding potential brain structures that contribute toward forming impressions of others is presented. The reader is invited to marvel at the complexity of what is mostly considered a very basic human skill.
