  • Description: The concept of local or on-site use of alternative energy sources is good sound practice, especially in these days of escalating fuel prices. It is common practice overseas and becoming more popular in New Zealand for residues generated in the prime product processing plants to be utilized as an energy source. The Lamb Wet-Cell Burner fired on wet bark for drying wood pulp at Winstone Samsung Industries Limited's Karioi Mill is a prime example. Farming should be no exception, as in the production of grain a large quantity of crop residue is produced.
