Στο συγκεκριμένο επεισόδιο εξετάζεται το μοναδικό φαινόμενο της «αθηναϊκής πολυκατοικίας», που ξεκινά από τον Μεσοπόλεμο και ανθεί τις δεκαετίες του 1960 και του 1970. Επιπλέον, αναδεικνύεται ο πολλαπλός ρόλος των πολυκατοικιών στη διαμόρφωση όχι μόνο του οικείου αστικού τοπίου αλλά και της ίδιας της ζωής των Αθηναίων. Παράλληλα, σκιαγραφούνται οι διαφορές με τις πολυκατοικίες της Ευρώπης και παρουσιάζεται ο τρόπος με τον οποίο κατέληξαν να στεγάζονται διαφορετικές κοινωνικές τάξεις στο ίδιο κτήριο. Ακόμη, οι προσκεκλημένοι αρχιτέκτονες, μηχανικοί, δημοσιογράφοι και συγγραφείς διερευνούν το γιατί απαξιώθηκαν οι πολυκατοικίες του κέντρου, τις ευθύνες του κράτους για την τελική εικόνα της Αθήνας και προσπαθούν να φωτίσουν τις πτυχές της πολύπλευρης ιστορίας της αθηναϊκής πολυκατοικίας.- Documentary series that explores Athens’ modern history. On this episode the ‘’Athenian Block of Flats’’ phenomenon is examined, an architecture trend that began during the Interwar era and flourished during the 1960s and 1970s. Moreover, this episode highlights the multiple effects that these buildings made upon Athenians’ lives. At the same time, the differences between the Athenian and European block of flats are outlined.
