  • Description: Provider: - Institution: - Data provided by Europeana Collections- Cattle (Bos taurus) hock elements (T.c+4+Mt.III+IV) from Bobs Wood, Hinchingbrooke, Cambridgeshire. Proximal articulation of metatarsal exhibits osteophytic bone formation around the articular margin, and similar manifestations are visible on the tarsals. This new bone is generally uneven in appearance. The margins are hard to define. When the elements are separated, the articular surfaces are shown to be rough and uneven, with over 50% of the articular surface exhibiting a pitted appearance. It is suggested that this might represent spavin or another form of osteoarthritic condition.- All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication.
