Leaflet binding method, comprises applying adhesive to perforated area of spine of a second sheet placed around a first sheet forming a centerfold
  • Author: JOHANNES RAADGEVER
  • Subjects: BOOKBINDING ; FILES ; PERFORMING OPERATIONS ; SPECIAL PRINTED MATTER ; TRANSPORTING
  • Description: The spine (R) of the second sheet (K2) is adhesive-permeable so that adhesive (L) applied to this sheet over the length of the spine flows through the second sheet and bonds the first sheet (K1a, K1b) to the latter. The adhesive-permeable region is formed by perforations (P) in the spine or each leaf of the second sheet. The first sheet is placed inside the second sheet, then adhesive is applied over the length of the spine of the second sheet, and the latter is placed inside a third sheet (K3a, K3b) so that the adhesive on the second sheet bonds the second and third sheets together. An independent claim is also included for a mail item prepared by this method, comprising a bound printed matter and a loose cover, the two edges of the cover which are folded towards each other during insertion being joined together via a connecting part.
