  • Description: The purpose of the article is to identify the key factors of youth protest in modern Russia and to predict the trends of protest activity of the younger generation. Based on the analysis of data on the value orientations of the youth, the goals of the younger generation, psychological and socio-cultural characteristics, the conclusion is made about the differentiation of the youth. There are two age groups with different protest potential: from 14 to 24 years and from 25 to 35 years. It has been established that the younger age group is more susceptible to protest moods due to a number of reasons, including growing up in a stable socio-economic situation (leading to the formation of values of individualism and freedom), frustration against the background of the need for career guidance or the beginning of work, lack of material benefits, etc. Also, the protest potential is compared with such characteristics as the level of education and localization of residence. Classical and modern theories of protest are analysed from the perspective of identifying the factors of youth protest emergence in modern Russian realities. In addition, the action of factors capable of channeling the youth protest and directing it in a constructive direction (youth policy and the system of representation of youth interests) is analysed. In the final part of the article, a conclusion is made about the relevance of the factors of youth protest activity in modern Russia. The authors emphasize that the solution to the problem is possible only with an integrated approach. On the one hand, young people should be included in public policy by expanding the representation of their interests and creating opportunities to participate in the activities of public organizations. On the other hand, it is necessary to balance the state youth policy and include a broad range of representatives of the younger generation in it.
