  • Description: In January 1515, Charles, Prince of Castile, was declared of age; four years later he was the most powerful sovereign in the Western world. At the same time, Thomas More was starting a diplomatic career which would lead him to gain his King's favour. In the complex maze of sixteenth century diplomacy, the paths of these two men crossed. Insofar as their interests followed at times divergent - or even confronting - lines, they did share two main concerns: the Turks and the Lutheran Reformation.
