  • Description: The surface of cellulosic materials tends to be incompatible with many of the materials that are most commonly considered in the production of composites. In addition, the tendency of cellulosic fibers to absorb water can be considered undesirable in many potential applications of composites. For these reasons, they are generally submitted to specific surface modifications. This chapter presents surface modification of nanocellulose to help to introduce new functionalities and to produce “active” nanocellulose.
