  • Description: There's a P & D fleet operation in the Oshawa, Ont. area that's generating incredible safety stats. The fleet has achieved a safe driving interval of over 16,500 hours per incident so far this year. On a daily basis the fleet's drivers operate in the country's highest traffic density and in the busiest city core, servicing downtown Toronto right out of Belleville, Ont. Yet they have worked the year to date without even a braking accident. [Jim McWilliams] goes one step further, saying that "it's not enough just to hire a quality O/O, you've got to keep him." He adds that long-term O/O drivers are one of the reasons for his group's success. In addition to the P & D owner/operatorachievements, the linehaul O/O group operating "A" train equipment achieved great safety statistics this year. It operated 3.1 million miles per accident, exceeding its previous excellent safe driving record.
