Description: This paper aims at analyzing the financial performance of the organization and thereby the short term solvency and profitability of the company and the analysis done using ratio analysis. In this context, the study initiated in Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) to find out their working capital management system in the previous 5 years and find out the problems, if any, and the performance of CPCL with the help of financial tools. This study focuses on the financial performance of CPCL in the past 5 years from 2005-06 to 2009-10. The study finds out the operational efficiency of the organization and suggests the proper utilization and management of resources to improve the efficiency of the organization where by leading to economic development of the country.
