  • Description: This circular sticker is a giant red "no" symbol. Written along it are the words "Breast Cancer -- An Epidemic." Considering the words and design, this sticker sheds light on women's fight against breast cancer. WHAM! (Women's Health Action and Mobilization) was a grassroots organization that protested against institutions and leaders that controlled policy around women's health issues and advocated for inclusive policies surrounding women's health, especially providing services for women regardless of race or class. WHAM! often partnered with ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) on protests and to raise awareness of issues in the health care industry. The sticker also includes a New York phone number for WHAM!: 212/713-5966., This sticker was catalogued in 2020-21 by Claralyn Burt, exhibition curator and cataloguing assistant.
