  • Description: The Chinese investments in the world are attracting more and more scientific and political attention. Some countries perceive them as an opportunity, whereas others see them as a threat. The most often criticised are the Chinese investments flowing into Africa. Media, politicians and researchers often claim China is a new colonizer of Africa. In the present article we identify African countries which have sparked the attention of Chinese investors in the recent years. We analyse Chinese investments in these countries from a sectorial aspect and focus on determinants of these investments. Our main goal is to determine the future trends of Chinese outward direct investments in Africa. Based on this analysis there is no proof that China is a new colonizer of Africa.
