  • Description: A system for continuous hydrothermal steam treatment of biomass material, the system comprising a substantially vertically arranged pressurized vessel (4), a discharge device (6, 7a-b, 8) for discharging the biomass material from a bottom portion of the pressurized vessel, a conduit (9) connecting a top portion of the pressurized vessel with said discharge device, said conduit being provided with a control valve (10) for controlling a flow of vapor from said top portion to said discharge device, a pressure measurement device (11a-b) for measuring differential pressure between said top portion of the pressurized vessel and said discharge device, and a control unit (12) configured to control said control valve in response to differential pressure measurement data from said pressure measurement device. A corresponding method is also provided.
