  • Description: The founding, emergence and evolution of the Progroup is one of those classic entrepreneurial stories not usually heard in the pulp and paper industry. Of course, other paper businesses have talented management, usually those individuals are seen charge of the big, old corporates, but it is rare that you see a start up in the shape and form of Progroup in just 23 years. It becomes quickly obvious when you engage in conversation with with Jurgen Heindl, CEO and founder of the Progroup, that he is a man completely in charge of the company's destiny. Heindl started out by first studying electronic engineering, and then changed tack to study economics, little realising what a strong role both skills and knowledge would play later on in his destiny. Heindl is absolutely adamant that a group of businesses like Progroup should not be run as individual profit centres, and instead should be run as one holistic enterprise, which is totally linked.
