  • Description: Weingarten (vineyard in German) was the name of the abbey founded by Welf I, Duke of Bavaria for the relocated monks of Altomünster Abbey. The Romanesque church was built between 1124-1182 was replaced by a Baroque church between 1715-24. The church is known for housing the Gabler Organ which has over 60 registers, 169 ranks, 63 voices and 6600 pipes.
