Description:
Application of enzymatic technologies for liquid chemicals produced from cellulosic pulps is one of the dynamically developing directions of recent industrial biotechnology. Researches on this topic are focused mainly on the study of monosaccharides - soluble products of bioconversion. Kraft wood pulp as substrate for bioconversion remains understudied, as well as composition, properties and potential applications of insoluble hydrolysis products. This research presents results of kraft bleached hardwood pulp hydrolysis with low charge of novel cellulases (5 FPU/g). The bioconversion products have been investigated. It was found that non-cellulosic insoluble polysaccharide (xylan) and cellulose are destructed in equal degree. At the same time, inverse relation between yield of soluble and insoluble products was observed, that allows producing products with desired properties by terminating the hydrolysis process at different stages. Crystallinity of insoluble residue during hydrolysis differs significantly and passes through a maximum. It is very important to produce a more crystalline product than initial substrate. We have proposed the scheme for producing and analyzing of cellulose powder derived from solid non-hydrolyzed residue by alkaline and acid methods. The important cellulose powder characteristics such as sorption capacity and crystallinity degree are presented.
