  • Description: Herpetological notes taken from the Benedykt Dybowski's memoirs, and in particular on the circumstances of the discovery of Salamandrella keyserlingii Dybowski, 1870. We report here some herpetological anecdotes taken from the memoirs of Benedykt Dybowski, one of the greatest Polish zoologists. We draw up a quick portrait of this scientist and in particular present the rather singular historical circumstances of the discovery of Salamandrella keyserlingii Dybowski, 1870. New information on the specimens used to describe this species is provided.
