Description: High-risk persons were screened for lung cancer in a population-based, randomized, controlled trial that involved volume-based nodule management for further testing. At 10 years of follow-up, lung-cancer mortality was significantly lower in the screening group than in the control group (2.5 vs. 3.3 per 1000 person-years among male participants).
