  • Description: A method for making water-resistant cotton garments and the water-resistant cotton garments are provided. An exemplary method includes treating cotton fabric with soda ash at a temperature of less than about 150 °F (about 66 ºC) and a pH of about 9.5 and bleaching the cotton fabric with hydrogen peroxide at a temperature of less than about 150 °F (about 66 ºC). The hydrogen peroxide is neutralized, and the pH is lowered with an organic acid to between about 6 and about 7. A garment is made from the cotton fabric and a wax lock is applied to the garment. The garment is dyed at a temperature of less than about 150 °F (about 66 ºC), and dried. L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de vêtements en coton résistants à l'eau et les vêtements en coton résistants à l'eau. Un procédé donné à titre d'exemple consiste à traiter un tissu de coton avec des cristaux de soude à une température inférieure à environ 150 °F (environ 66 °C) et un pH d'environ 9,5 et à blanchir le tissu de coton avec du peroxyde d'hydrogène à une température inférieure à environ 150 °F (environ 66 °C). Le peroxyde d'hydrogène est neutralisé, et le pH est abaissé avec un acide organique entre environ 6 et environ 7. Un vêtement est fabriqué à partir du tissu de coton et un agent de blocage de cire est appliqué au vêtement. Le vêtement est teint à une température inférieure à environ 150 °F (environ 66 °C), et séché.
