  • Description: Renovation of apartment buildings is new urban stage, based on sustainability and integrated regeneration of urban areas. Nevertheless, renovation still faces lack of holistic approach on both scientific and practical fields, while the process itself is often taken as construction rather than territorial development tool. It is typical for Vilnius as well: renovation is fulfilled via buildings modernization, leaving renewal of residential environment aside. The aim of this study - is contribute to optimization of renovation of apartment buildings in Vilnius city. Thesis analyses renovation process in spatial, statistical and practical aspects as well as its influence on urban and social processes. The paper proposes organization model for renewal of residential environment based on the territorial analyses of population, housing stock and urban processes.
