Description:
FIELD: chemical engineering and nuclear ecology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing liquid radioactive wastes formed at various-type nuclear power plants installed on transport vessels (nuclear-powered icebreakers, submarines, floating nuclear power stations). Invention consists in system reprocessing of liquid radioactive wastes to remove radionuclides using inorganic sorbent based on transition metal (copper or nickel) ferrocyanide followed by desalting and concentration procedures to separate streams into filtrate with salt content below 0.5 g/cu.dm and saline solution that is further concentrated to yield salts, whereas filtrate is additionally purified by passing through sorbent columns. Exhausted sorbents are then dried and are placed with salts in insulated protective storage tank. Installation contains in-series arranged and interconnected admission vessels; pretreatment unit including sorption treatment column for liquid radioactive wastes placed in protective container provided with upper removable caps and supply and discharge connecting pipes; desalting and concentration units; and exhausted sorbent and salt disposal unit provided with protective storage tank for solid radioactive wastes. The latter unit consists of sorbent drying column unit and transfer container to remove columns out of protective container and their transfer and set up in protective storage tank for solid radioactive wastes. EFFECT: improved environmental safety. 17 cl, 3 wdg , 1 tblh
