  • Description: FIELD: chemical engineering and nuclear ecology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing liquid radioactive wastes formed at various-type nuclear power plants installed on transport vessels (nuclear-powered icebreakers, submarines, floating nuclear power stations). Invention consists in removing radionuclides by bringing low-salt solutions in contact with inorganic sorbent based on transition metal (copper or nickel) ferrocyanide and porous inorganic carrier followed by addition of chemical reagent precipitating sulfate ions. As such reagent, barium chloride is used at molar ratio to sulfate ion (1.0-1.1): 1. Precipitate is separated and stored for 8-10 half-periods of radionuclides contained in precipitate, preferably for 1200-1600 days. Installation contains in-series arranged and interconnected admission vessels, sorption treatment unit, settling tanks with dispensers for chemical reagent introduction, settlers, and storage tanks for radioactive precipitate. The latter are multisectional containing preferably 4-6 sections, each constituting a series of steel or plastic 200-l barrels. EFFECT: improved environmental safety. 5 cl, 1 wdg , 1 tblh
