  • Description: In recent years the Hungarian government has initiated significant steps in order to increase the economic activity of persons with disabilities and a reduced work capacity. Employment data from the latest national census proved its efficiency, although there is still a considerable lag compared to the economic activity of the non-disabled population. According to the findings of previous research the labour market integration of this disadvantaged group is profoundly influenced not only by the accepting attitude of employers, but also by the knowledge, view and welcoming attitude of the organisation’s employees. The present study aims at discussing partial results of a research which examines the attitudes of employees – who work in social institutions operating in three districts of Hajdú-Bihar county – towards persons with disabilities and a reduced work capacity. Based on the results we can state that academic qualification, economic activity, and the position attained in the hierarchy level influence most whether the concept of both disability and reduced work ability is known.
