Description:
Lizette was referred to the provider by hospital staff after she had been physically assaulted by her “friend”. Lizette is originally reluctant to share any information about the assault and repeatedly minimizes it. After disclosing that she was also sexually assaulted as a child, Lizette discusses her belief that there is something inherently wrong with her that is causing these instances of abuse, which leads her to blame herself for what has happened. She also discusses her reluctance to report the most recent assault because she was not believed or provided support when she reported the instance of sexual assault as a child.
