  • Description: With Atlantic Packaging's Whitby, Ontario, mill onstream with a newly converted machine for lightweight packaging grades, the Canadian company's New Forest mill is looking forward to running the medium-weights that are the sweet spot of the company's flagship machine. Efficiencies and throughput at New Forest are expected to increase -- especially since the machinery and clothing have been fine-tuned to optimum levels. If you visit a lot of mills, you can sense almost immediately how a mill is managed by observing the housekeeping, the condition of the machinery, and by the attitude of the operators. It is not a matter of nicely framed values and mission statements on the walls -- it is witnessing how the values come to life on the machine floor. That is why a visit to New Forest Paper Mills in Scarborough, Ontario, is so refreshing. New Forest produces high-quality linerboard and corrugating medium from 100% recycled fiber.
