  • Description: Australia's economy has rebounded after a flood-induced contraction in January-March, expanding by a seasonally adjusted 1.2% quarter on quarter in April-June. Restocking made the biggest contribution to second-quarter growth, but private consumption and business investment also performed well. Although net exports remained a drag on growth, this should change as commodity exports ramp up again during the rest of the year. Analysts expect the economy to expand by 1.9% in 2011 as a whole, assuming that the global outlook does not worsen.
