  • Description: Courtesy Lucy Caldicott/Photo Alan Hassey Psychiatrist and UK leader in health information governance. A second appropriation of Caldicott's name stemmed from one of the 16 recommendations of her report: that every National Health Service (NHS) organisation dealing with such requests should appoint a senior person, preferably a health professional, to act as a guardian of the confidentiality of patient information. In 2011, she became Chair of the National Information Governance Board and subsequently the National Data Guardian for Health and Social Care.
