Our reading proposal unfolds some aspects of the convivial landscape in Martial’s epi­grams, and especially the meanings suggested by saturnalian sce­nario regarding the reception of poetry. From our point of view, the shared wine and the festive atmosphere are not only in accor­dance with the poetic genre and the comic tone, but also these circumstances renew the possibilities of the reader.
