  • Description: Z dymem z pozarów (Up in Smoke of Blaze) The drama by Stanislaw Brzozowski picks up the subject of Russian Revolution of 1905. It shows the dark side of the Russian nation that seeks revenge not freedom and that is demoralized, full of hostility against the revolution and hatred towards the Jews. For the soul of the nation fight two main characters: 'the Antichrist' - the archimendrate Antoniush, who preaches the religion of hatred and vengeance and 'the Russian prophet' Aleksy whose religion is full of love, forgiveness and repentance. Despite the pessimistic diagnosis of Russians' spiritual condition, the final of the story brings some hope. Aleksy prevents people from committing the crime against Jews, predicting them freedom and expressing the hope for the spiritual transformation of Russia.
