  • Description: Arguably the first significant shot of the 2022 federal election campaign came in then Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese's 2021 budget reply speech when he pledged that: 'A Labor Government I lead will establish a Housing Australia Future Fund, building thousands of new homes for our most vulnerable Australians - and creating thousands of new jobs for workers' (Albanese 2021). The Housing Australia Future Fund, or HAFF, was to deliver 30,000 social and affordable rental homes in its initial phase, the first such national program in 15 years.
