  • Description: This article adds a class perspective to research on social capital by exploring how class divisions in Poland impinge upon the availability of social resources and to what degree social networks are segregated along the lines of class. These problems are considered on the basis of locally representative survey data (2017). The analyses show that managers and specialists have larger social networks and access to more prestigious social resources the their lower class counterparts. All classes demonstrate a tendency to homophily. At the same time the network segregation is high at the top as well as at the bottom of the class hierarchy and the classes in the middle have more heterogeneous networks. The results confirm the relevancy of class in studying social capital and networks and suggest that social capital may be a key element in the consolidation and reproduction of social privileges.
