  • Description: Canfor, North America's second-largest market pulp producer with an estimated 1.43 million mtpy of capacity, announced in February plans to focus on wood products and spin off more than a million tonnes of northern bleached softwood kraft pulp business into a standalone pulp income trust. Canfor would retain an 80% equity stake in the trust and distribute 20% to shareholders. If shareholders approve the plan Canfor's three market pulp mills that make premium reinforcement grade NBSK from lodgepole pine and white spruce wood fiber at Prince George, BC, would be spun off.
