  • Description: In respect of risk assessment the tumorigenic action of TCDD is the most important criterion has to be considered. Rats that had ingested TCDD for two years developed carcinomas of the liver and tumors of the lung, hard palate, nasal turbinates or tongue. This was also observe in mice. As the tumorigenic potential of TCDD is comparable with that of Aflatoxin B sub(1), actually TCDD had to be classified as a strong carcinogen.
