  • Description: Sanitary workers make great contribution to the cleanness and beauty of cities. Professional identity is the key factor to promote professional practice and maintain working enthusiasm. With the methods of descriptive statistics and hierarchical progression, a survey aiming at 300 sanitary workers in Nanjing found that the status of sanitary workers' professional identity has reached the 'moderate level'. However it shows some differences in each dimension, among which professional emotion is the worst. The factors influencing professional identity include three aspects: age and education, workload, working environment and welfare benefits in professional dimension; children, community residents and supervisors in dimension of social support. In addition, social support has more effects than other dimensions. Therefore, in addition to improving the wage of sanitary workers, the government and the society should give them an extensive social support. Adapted from the source document.
