  • Description: The article describes reasons, principles for design, structure and using of RIPRAN method (Risk Project Analysis) for risk project analysis. The RIPRAN method is used to identify, quantify risks, and design proposals that reduce risk in the project to increase the likelihood of successful completion of the project. The method uses a system and process approach to risk analysis and respects international ISO standards that recommend how to perform a high‑quality risk analysis of the project. The method has been incorporated into the national standard of the Czech Republic among the recommended knowledge for certified project managers. The third version of the method is available. The method is included in teaching at many universities in the Czech Republic, trained by a number of training firms and used by firms to analyse the risks of corporate projects or by various risk analysis institutions for projects funded by the EU structural funds. The aim of the article is to inform about the RIPRAN method. At the same time, the paper points out that the method describes the procedure for risk analysis of the project and presents the benefits of RIPRAN application. The description of a system approach application when designing the RIPRAN method serves as an example of a system approach to risk engineering.
