  • Description: Provider: - Institution: - Data provided by Europeana Collections- Extended description:- Information: On location (recording)- The line of fans impatiently waiting to get their hands on the new iPhone is getting longer and longer. At midnight, the first iPhones will be sold in Denmark. The iPhone is not just a mobile phone featuring a bunch of functions; it is a phenomenon with a large number of fans worldwide. The fans have been standing in line for over thirty hours. Neither the rain, the long wait nor the price of almost 5000 Danish kroner could scare them away. They are waiting for the new iPhone – a telephone featuring internet access, GPS and a lot of other functions, which has become a global phenomenon and which 10,000 Danes have already bought abroad. Critics are not in doubt about what it is about the iPhone that attracts so many people even though there are also some disadvantages of the phone. But when you buy an iPhone, you not only buy an advanced mobile phone, you also buy an image. The question is for how long it will be something special to own a iPhone. Special or not, Kasper and Preben will wait in the rain for the last couple of hours until the first iPhones of Denmark will arrive in a limousine at midnight.- Original language summary: Lige nu vokser køen af fans, der utålmodigt venter på at få fingrene i den nye iPhone. All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication.
