  • Description: Conclusions The results suggest that the free water elimination method may segment brain tissue in edematous area to at least four groups that predict the tissue condition: 1) Non affected WM, for high FA WM that exhibits minor changes following the correction. 2) Obscured WM for areas with large FA changes increase due to the free water correction. 3) Affected tissue, for WM or GM tissue which was degenerated by the edema. 4) Non WM - for Gray matter/CSF areas within the edema that did not change their FA.
