  • Description: The present paper relates all that has been conceived and realised in different parts of the world in dealing with the integrated management of urban drainage systems. The old and new trends about planning and managing of the urban drainage systems are analysed here with a specific care for the real time control. The complexity of the interactions between urban drainage systems and the hydrological cycle leads to have a global view of this problem and so, by the awareness of water resources finiteness, to preservation by resources management. According to this point of view, a further analysed application is the reclaimed rainwater reuse by water tanks connected to the main drainage network, with the aim to minimise the environmental consequences caus
