  • Description: Despite a wealth of evidence of the health benefits of fruits and vegetables, their affordability, accessibility, and safety present substantial challenges to individuals in low- and middle-income countries. Interventions that address the whole population, such as those that influence the availability and price of fruits and vegetables, as well as their safety, may be more impactful and sustainable in the long term. Here, Siegel discusses the reasons for the lack of availability of fruits and vegetables.
