  • Description: The present study explores cross-linguistic similarities and neurophysiological changes from a multi-cue(case, animacy and word order) perspective. German and Chinese natives were implicitly trained to learn the case-marking rules of an artificial language. After acquiring the words, the participants were exposed to this language to learn sentences in the lab. In the test section, participants made grammaticality judgments(with feedback) for novel sentences while their behavioral data and neurophysiological data were recorded. Such training was repeated in 1~3 days. It was found that both German and Chinese natives successfully elicited an N400-Late Positivity for case violations in a pattern of supporting the actor-undergoer asymmetry; German students had higher accuracy rates than Chinese students in the first training, while this advantage disappeared in the second training; and German and Chinese students showed different ERP changes from the first to the second training. The results shed new light on the
