  • Description: As well as optimizing the shoe press design for a higher level of performance, Andritz has focused on runnability and efficiency as a high level of net production is most important for every papermaker. Since the late 1990's Andritz has been one of the pioneers in the demanding tissue technology segment. The conventional press roll gives mid-range maximum nip pressure and notable rewetting due to its symmetrical and almost static pressure curve. Shoe presses on the other hand give full flexibility. In summary shoe presses offer a papermaker a rich versatility and flexibility -- the ability to lower energy consumption, improve sheet quality and obtain optimum productivity. There are tissue machines operated with conventional press rolls running as fast as 2,050 m/min and a time efficiency of nearly 97%. Stepping in this direction and evolving the shoe press technology Andritz also focused on improving runnability and operational efficiency.
