Portable buildings; barracks; hospitals; huts.- Fountain frames A are laid on bevelled ground, or on blocks or stones C and are secured together by bolts and nuts a. The floor sections D may be constructed of two layers of tongued and grooved boards laid at right-angles to one another, or a single layer of boards may be fixed to light joists d which fit in notches in the foundation frames. These floor sections are secured to the foundation frames by screw nails, and are fitted with lifting-rings let into recesses in the boards. The wall frames B are secured together by bolts, and the joints are made weathertight by tongues b . The structure is covered externally with wood, galvanized, corrugated, or sheet iron, zinc, or other weatherproof material, and is lined internally with match boarding or other material b , the hollow spaces being packed with felt or some non-conducting material. The joints between the sheets and frames are covered by external corrugated strips B as shown in Fig. 3, or by dovetail strips B as shown in Fig. 3. The walls and roof are tied together by light iron tierods e and king bolts e provided with eyes to receive connecting - bolts. The wall and roof sections are fitted with windows, doors, ventilators, fittings for stove pipes, &c. When the building is taken down, the foundation frames and floor sections are converted into packing-cases. The invention is specially applicable to hospitals, military huts, barracks, and the like.
