  • Description: Of his theoretical models, those I've found most engaging to be his historical evolution of parenting modes and his vision of the political leader as delegate for organizing group fantasy to magnetize primitive gratifications and frustrations. For the most part, however, the parental part was assumed, sidelined, but mostly neglected. deMause restored parenting to its own distinctive evolution in historical modes from a primitive Sacrificial to an adaptive Helpful one of more recent times. Having been parented, parents repeated or modified their experiences as cultural vehicles for a new generation to take their turn in due course.
